Closeness to the Caspian Sea has blessed Alam Kouh with high humidity, snowfall, and rainfall. The best season for summiting Alam Kuh from any face is summer, especially late-July to late-August. This is the season our exclusive camp is functional and we operate most of our Alamkuh tours.
June fascinates you with snowfields on one corner and green valleys on another. Late in July when the snow has melted and Hesarchal is at its highest beauty, a large number of mountaineers from all around Iran set out on an adventure on Alam Kooh. However, heavy snow, thunder and recurrent avalanches are common in fall and winter, and this continues into spring each year.
Hesarchal is the most popular and unchallenging route for conquering Alamkuh. Summiting Alam Kuh summit through Hesarchal doesn’t require technical skills. And it usually includes an overnight in the beautiful Hesarchal Plain (3750m). The ascent through Hesarchal route is very safe. Siah Sang route is considered as one of Iran’s most challenging trekking routes and it often includes an overnight in Sarchal Mountain Hut (3700m). This route starts in Vandarbon, continues to Sarchal Hut, Alamchal and Siah Sang Mountain Pass, and finally reaches the summit from the east. Read more
This rock climbing route takes less time compared to Siah Sang route, but it requires technical equipment and includes an overnight in Sarchal Hut. This popular wall is for professional rock climbers. The wall starts at an altitude of 4200m and ends in the summit at an altitude of 4850m. The rock climbing routes also include a small trekking part and an overnight in Sarchal hut. The route you choose based on your style, professional level, and physical strength will determine how you reach the summit. Read more.
Definitely the Southern Face Route (Hesarchal)! Why? Firstly, because it is the safest and least challenging route. So, technical gear and professional skills are not a must. And secondly, because our exclusive camp is on the southern route. That’s why we operate most of our Alam Kuh tours on this route.
The levels of difficulty for summiting Alam Kuh Mountain are different for each route. If you don’t know which route, tour package, or difficulty level is the best choice for you, just contact us. We’ll either offer you one of our present tours or tailor make an Alam Kuh tour package according to your taste and capability.
Like summiting any other +4000 mountain, for summiting Mount Alam Kuh, you require basic mountaineering experience and physical capabilities.
Besides the physical preparation (achieved by aerobic and breathing exercises, cardio workouts, etc.), an efficient acclimatization is also important. That’s why joining the experienced leaders of our Alam-Kuh tours ensures a more secure and professional mountaineering experience. With their help, we have planned an efficient acclimatization on one of the nearby peaks for our Mount Alam Kuh trekking tours.
Determining how much time you need for an efficient acclimatization depends on several factors. What the elevation of your home town is, which mountains you have climbed so far, when your last climb was, what the highest elevation you’ve climbed is, how old you are, and how fit and healthy you are, are some of the factors. With this information, our experienced guides can arrange the perfect acclimatization for you.
In Rudbarak (1550m), there are clean 6-bed rooms, urban electricity, shower, toilet, kitchen, and cooking ware. In Vandarbon (2000m), you can find urban electricity, central heating system, beds, blankets, kitchen with stove and dishware, toilet, and shower. However, there are no permanent huts and camps on Hesarchal Plain where you will be spending the night. But, the exclusive camp we set up there during the high trekking season offers nice facilities for your convenience.
How much preparation you need for summiting Alam Kuh depends on a lot of factors. Your physical fitness, your experience of high altitudes, the general duration of your Alam Kuh tour, and the time you spend at the height on each day of the tour are all effective. For summer ascents of Alam Kuh through the southern route (Hesarchal), no technical skills or equipment are required. You just need a good guide, enough mountaineering experience, and basic mountaineering gear. Contact us for information on the other routes and other seasons.

The best time for a trekking tour on Alam Kuh Mountain is summer, especially late July through late August.
Generally, the weather is stable and predictable during the summer. And we will suspend the tour if unsuitable weather is predicted. However, in case we face unpredictable adverse weather, we’ll add a day to your itinerary.
Just for part of the way! Cellphone reception and mobile data are suitable in Vandarbon. But you lose your connection until you get close to the summit.
Unlike in the cities where women are a bit limited, dress code for a trekking adventure is free.
