Iraj Maani 550x450 - Iraj Maani

Since Iraj stepped into the world of professional mountaineering at the age of 15, he hasn’t stopped shooting for the stars. As a member of Iran’s National Youth Mountaineering Team, he ascended many different mountains including Nepal’s Tilicho Peak and Afghanistan’s Naw Shakh. Motivated and enthusiastic as he is, Iraj has summited four of the fourteen +8000m mountains of the world so far (Lhotse, Dhaulagiri, Gusherbrum I, Gusherbrum II) and has attempted another 3 of them (Lhotse, Makalu, Nanga Parbat). Expeditions to Island peak, Aconcagua, Ararat, Ama Dablam and Elbrusare are among the many expeditions he has led and guided. Now, he is also among the best ice climbing instructors in Iran. Oriented toward sustainable tourism and protecting Iran’s cultural heritage and environment, he has also been taking over responsibilities as a member of the Youth Committee of UIAA, the Head of Youth Committee of IMSCF, a member of GHM association of altitude alpinism in France (Groupe de Haute Montagne) and a member of Iran National Mountaineering Team.
