The experience our operations team have had on the world’s top summits (in Nepal, Pakistan, Russia, South America, etc.), their love for Iran, and the potential they saw in Iran as a mountaineering destination inspired them to replicate the standard camps they’ve been in on Mount Damavand. This camp (4200m), which is near Bargah-e Sevvom (around 150meter), is up and running during Damavand’s high season. It can shelter 30 mountaineers. And it offers every 2 mountaineers one tent that’s equipped with foam and mattresses.

This camp is one of our valuable assets for a Mount Damavand trekking tour. It is the only exclusive and internationally standard camp on Damavand’s least challenging and most popular route: the southern face route. It is up and running during Damavand’s high season (for around 3 months during the year). It can shelter 30 mountaineers. And it offers every 2 mountaineers one tent that’s equipped with foam and mattresses.

The Food in the Camp

With the professional cook we have on our camp, you don’t need to eat canned food anymore! For lunch and dinner, you’ll enjoy freshly cooked food suitable for trekking. Plus, a variety of breakfast and snacks are also available. Even if you are a vegan or vegetarian, just let us know and we’ll take care of everything.

The BEST SEASON FOR A MOUNT DAMAVAND TREKKING TOUR

You can have a great trekking experience on Damavand Mountain from early June through late August. In this period, there is little snow on the routes, the weather is just awesome, and you don’t need professional or winter gear. Plus, you get to meet other mountaineers. That’s why we operate most of our Damavand tours then. However, summiting the giant is doable all year round:

Spring

Early in spring (March to late May), the weather on Damavand is still extremely cold and unstable. So finding a suitable weather window might be challenging and winter gear are necessary. Yet, the snow on the mountain makes spring the best season for ski mountaineering on Damavand. But late spring welcomes you for a nice Damavand trekking tour in a great weather.

Summer

July and August are the most popular season for a Damavand tour. Yet, many agree that the beautiful mountain is at its best in late June. Tulips and poppy flowers fill the surrounding plains and snow water flows down on every corner. Higher safety, better amenities, and nicer weather conditions not only make summer the most suitable trekking season, but also raise the chance of success. During this time, meeting and making friends with the climbers on the routes and in the shelters is of the best parts of the climb. Note that Iranian holidays, Thursday and Friday, are the peak.

Fall

Late in September the temperature gradually falls, the weather becomes less stable, and snowfalls make climbing without gear impossible.

Winter

If you are looking for a challenge and like to experience a safe +5000 winter ascent, this season of Damavand will suit you. As the most challenging season to climb Mount Damavand, winter is only a suitable climbing season for professionals. Extreme weather conditions like heavy snowfall and occasional strong winds make professional gear a must. However, the avalanche risk is very low. This summit route is the most popular and least challenging route for summiting Mount Damavand. The mild slope, our exclusive camp (4200m), the availability of mules, and the higher chance of ascent success make this route a perfect choice for a Damavand tour. ♥ The Northern Face Route

The northern face route passes between two glaciers, is very steep, and requires scrambling at some parts. So you need to be more experienced and possess technical skills for a Mt. Damavand tour through this route. The shelters on the northern route, at 4000 and 4700-meter altitudes (known as the 4000 and 5000 camps), don’t offer enough facilities.

This summit route is the least accessible of the 4 routes, there is a high risk of rock fall, and the slope at some points get rather steep. The route might also challenge you with strong winds. However, with Lar plain and lake under your feet, this summit route is known to give the most fascinating views you can get from Mount Damavand. You need a long off-road ride to get to the starting point. The main shelters on the western route is Simorgh shelter (4200m).

Definitely the Southern Face Route! Why? Firstly, because it is the safest and least challenging route. So, technical gear and professional skills are not a must. And secondly, because compared with other Damavand routes, our camp there makes this route the best regarding comfortable accommodations. That’s why we operate most of our Damavand tours on this route. Our exclusive camp is also on this route.

The Northeastern Face Route

After the southern route, we recommend the next common route for summiting Damavand: the northeast route. This route is very picturesque (with beautiful glaciers), and it is less crowded than the southern route. It is also the second least challenging route for conquering Damavand.

BEFORE HOPPING ON A DAMAVAND TREKKING TOUR

Level of Difficulty:

The levels of difficulty for ascending Damavand are different for each route. But generally, Damavand isn’t a very challenging +5000 summit to climb. However, acute mountain sickness could be a challenge. But with the company of our experienced guides, this challenge can turn into a more memorable experience. If you don’t know which tour package and difficulty level suits you best, send us your information and trekking resume. We’ll either offer you one of our present tours or tailor make a Damavand tour according to your taste and capability.

Acclimatization and Preparation:

Like summiting any other +5000 mountain, for summiting Mount Damavand, you not only require high physical capabilities, but it also poses the challenge of adapting yourself to the altitude. So, besides the physical preparation (achieved by aerobic and breathing exercises, cardio workouts, etc.), an efficient and well-planned acclimatization plays a key role in the quality of your adventure. That’s why joining the experienced leaders of our Damavand tours ensures a more secure and professional mountaineering experience.
