Salt Dome Tour and Other Bushehri Charms

Welcome to the land of warmth and salt, Bushehr! In the morning, meet your native guide who will accompany you to Bord Khun Village (125 km). From there, make your way toward Jashak Salt Dome (a 20-minute ride) and get ready for a few-hour hike. Get lost for hours in the unusual colorful spectacles of the dome: caves filled with pretty crystalline salt icicles hanging from their roofs, salty glaciers, puddles, valleys, waterfalls, springs, and salt formations shaped like cauliflowers.

Still amazed by and having captured colorful photos of the incredible scenery, head back to Bord Khun for a rest.

(Possible depending on the weather): Move on to the scenic Hara Sea Forest of Bushehr. Either explore the forest on foot at low tide and see the roots beautifully twisted together or do it on a boat and enjoy the scenery of the trees partially hidden in water at high tide.

Later in the afternoon, hit the sea toward the pristine Nakhiloo Island, a protected National Park home to a fascinating diversity of wildlife and plant life where hawksbill turtles travel a long way to for nesting their babies.

Back in Bord Khun, the natives at the traditional ecolodge are expecting you for a night of delicious local dishes and desserts cooked with love and a pleasant combination of spices and vegetables that give the distinct smell and taste to Southern Iranian cuisine.

Greet the beautiful morning! Leave Bord Khun behind and have a ride toward the Kalouts (Yardangs) of Bushehr, structures eroded and sculpted by natural forces. Overlook the mushroom-like shapes that give beauty to the dry land.

Before lunchtime, stop by at the Cemetery of Lenj Boats where you can see the UNESCO-listed traditional craft of the natives, Lenj boats, eternally anchored on the beach.

Then we drive toward Bushehr. Walk through the lovely traditional area and the Old Bazaar of Bushehr where you’ll meet the friendly natives and step into the adorable atmosphere of charming aged alleys and mansions.

At sunset, enjoy the amazing view of one of Bushehr’s picturesque beaches. Then to top the journey off, dine at a traditional café. Please your eyes with the beautiful traditional architecture of the café and your ears with the rhythmic folk music of the South, popular for the liveliness of its rhythm, the ardency of its instruments and the passion of its performers.
