Have a challenging climb of a scenic 1200-meter vertical rock beside UNESCO-protected ancient Iranian history, Bisotun Big Wall. Being one of the major walls of the world and the first in Iran, the legendary mountain of Persian poetry is definitely an exciting challenge for both an amateur and a professional rock climber. The beauty of the landscape, the limestone rocks that provide a good friction at some parts, a width of 5km and existence of 3 big ledges that have together offered numerous routes of different length have won the wall the title of ‘the heaven for rock climbers’ in Iran.
The summit is 2800m above sea level and is known for its 5 major climbing parts: Head of Heakles, Kalkosh, Noghre darreh, Darreh Khoshe and Loolsakht. Since we are capable of operating any of the 100 routes (including multi-pitch ones), feel free to choose anyone that suits your strength and style. To make it even more adventurous and to climb further up, spend the night on the wall! We suggest taking the two routes leading up to the two different mountain huts: Harry Rost Route: 5.10 B and Kam-e Ezhdeha Route: 5.10 C. Day 1
Get a flight from Tehran to Kermanshah (about 40 min). From there, get a ride toward Bisotun (35 km). Have a short rest at the hotel (Bisotun Caravanserai), gear up and prepare yourself for a warm-up on a route suiting your physical capacity; Kariz Route (5.10 C – 5.10 B) is recommended. Having warmed up for tomorrow, return to Bisotun caravanserai to sleep through the night.
Overnight: Bisotun Caravanserai
Day 2
The real challenge begins today! Depending on your strength and professionality, make your way up to either Harry Rost Hut (with a route difficulty of 5.10 B) or Kam-e Ezhdeha Hut (with a route difficulty of 5.10 C). Accomplish the climb and spend the night at the mountain hut (with a capacity of 5-6 people).
Overnight: Mountain hut
Day 3
Climb further up through routes of 5.10 B and 5.10 C rating. The maximum of the height you will have climbed in the 2 days will be less than 900 meters, though you can choose to climb all the way up to the 1200-meter summit. Descend the mountain to have an overnight rest for tomorrow’s adventure.

Day 4
Today will be a day of culture. First, let the fine carvings of the ancient relic of the well-known Darius the Great, the 2500-year old Behistun Inscription (UNESCO) astonish you. Then have a short ride (31 km) toward Kermanshah. According to your flight schedule, if you have time, you can check out the impressive 1700-year-old rock relief, Taq-e Bostan (UNESCO) and two of Iran’s finest Hosseyniyehs: Tekieh Mo’aven ol-Molk and Biglar Beigi Tekye. The colorful tiles of the walls of the former and the splendid mirror-tiled central dome room of the later are amazing. End the tour by getting a flight back to Tehran.
