Horseback Riding Tour Around Mount Damavand

Start the day leaving Tehran with a road trip to Polour (90km). There, saddle up for horseback riding and meet your Persian horse. On the first day, 2-3 hours of riding will be enough to get to know your horse and gain her trust. Ride through a country track to reach Dasht-e Khoshk and see the volcanic rocks of different sizes. Camp at the foot of Mount Damavand and spend your first night beside the elegant mountain.

Good morning Damavand! Open your eyes to the serenity of the plain’s nature. Having bonded with your native horse, let your horse lead you through the nomad’s path toward Pinchal Plain, one of Damavand’s most picturesque Southern plains. On the Southern face, the pleasure of the ride is doubled with the view of the magnificent Mount Damavand with its charming glaciers and ridges on one side and the charming Lar Lake on the other side. Make your way across plains covered with the red poppy flowers of Iran (mostly in spring)and a variety of volcanic cliffs toward the Southwest face. Keep your camera handy to capture the beauty of the wild flowers, herbs and shrubs (some native to Asia) with the stunning peaks of Central Alborz Mountains (Golzard, Tizkooh, Asemankooh) setting as a background to them. Ride on to find yourself in the paradisal Lar plain beside Lar dam where you’ll be camping and spending the night.

The joy of waking up to the beauty of the lush plain and the mountainous skyline wouldn’t be erased from your memory! On your strong horse, ride to the other side of the dam and toward the Northwest to catch the most beautiful sight of Iran’s tallest summit. You’d be among the few who get the chance of going horseback riding in the pristine nature of these lovely plains. Camp behind the dam and enjoy the peaceful night.

Rise and shine! Back in the saddle, move on to Yal-e-Dagh. Exhibit your horsemanship at the Northern face of Mount Damavand; private, unspoiled, and elevated. Here where all the elements of the puzzle are pieced together for a perfect photo, don’t miss the chance of shooting the Western glacier while standing on the highest plain and the farthest one from Damavand. Then ride down to the vast Nandel plain to reach Nandel village which will give you the taste of a sweet pastoral life with its local food and dairy, the delicious fruit of its beautiful orchards and the peace of an overnight in a local house.

As the last souvenir of Damavand, take the traditional culture of the region visiting the lovely villages (Razan, Hajidela and Miandarre). Then we drive back to Tehran (160km).
