Day 1: Transportation day!
Tehran-Polour Village- Damavand Base Camp (Gusfandsara)- Damavand Shelter (Bargh-e Sevom).
Start the day off with a 65-kilometer road trip from Tehran to Polour Village (2400m). Take a break and leave your extra equipment in the guesthouse; then make your way up toward Damavand Base Camp, Gusfandsara (3200m), in a 4WD. In case of adverse weather or snow-blocked roads, you’ll be taken to the last accessible parts of the mountain by road and you’ll need to climb up the rest of the way to Gusfandsara. From there, climb further up for about 5-6 hours to reach Bargh-e Sevom Shelter (4200m).
Overnight: Spend the night at Bargah-e Sevom Shelter or camp beside it.
Day 2: Acclimatization day!
To acclimatize yourself to the height, have a slow climb to the altitude of 4900m. Having taken sufficient rest there to optimize the acclimatization, climb down to the shelter to overlook the beautiful view of Doberar ridge, Lar Lake and the national park you are standing on.
Overnight: Spend the night at Bargh-e Sevom Shelter or camp beside it.
Note: You may have a bad weather substitution day. The unstable weather of ski season can make any unwelcome changes to the schedule. A substitute day may be included to make up for the unexpected.
Day 3: Summit day!
Early in the morning, make it to the roof of Iran, Damavand Summit (5610m). After 6-7 hours of ascending, you will have joined the summiteers of the old mythological mountain. Enjoy the amazing scenery atop the crater and take your victory photos before skiing all the way down to Gusfandsara (about 2 hours). From there get on the 4WD to head back to Polour. At the guesthouse pack up and get ready for a ride to Rineh local hot spring to soak your cold body in the relaxing warmth of the water.
Overnight: Guesthouse or local house in Rineh
